TRAVEL INFORMATION

Here are some things to expect before, during, and after your flight with us. Please note our policies regarding baggage, pets, and traveling minors as well as charter flight restrictions.

Baggage & Weight Limits

COCO Bahama Seaplanes will take your bags to and from the aircraft with care. Just one less thing to worry about.

 

Soft-sided baggage is preferred on our flights. No hazmat or dangerous goods can be shipped in baggage or cargo, and the total weight for the flight includes passengers and baggage.

 

Private Charter:

  • 208 Seaplane (Up to 8 guests): 1,500 to 1,800 total lbs (varies with location)
  • 206 Seaplane (Up to 4 guests): 700 to 750 total lbs (varies with location)

 

If your baggage exceeds these dimensions 14″H x 41″L x 27″D, please contact us to accommodate your requirements.

 

Each plane has weight restrictions for the safety of our guests and therefore we reserve the right to refuse baggage exceeding the weight limit.

 

 

Minor Travel

Children under the age of 18 traveling alone are considered an unaccompanied minor. COCO Bahama Seaplanes requires that all unaccompanied minors have a letter of consent from the absent parent(s)/legal guardian giving the child permission to travel. The letter must state who is dropping off the child for their flight and who will be receiving them when they arrive in their destination. The letter must be signed by both parents or the legal guardian.

 

Pet Policy

COCO Bahama Seaplanes is a pet-friendly airline. If you are bringing a pet on a private charter, please make sure any necessary permits are obtained prior to flight.

 

All guests traveling to the Bahamas with pets are required to complete appropriate forms directly with Bahamas Agriculture and have the approved stamped copy at time of travel (copies of forms can be found in section III). If the pet has an accident onboard or if we need to have the aircraft detailed, due to the pet, there is a $200.00 cleaning/detaining fee. Traveling to the United States – the Passenger must have the Pets Vaccine Records and Valid rabies tag.

 

Unaccompanied Pets: COCO Bahama Seaplanes will transport an unaccompanied animal with the following conditions:

  • Must have appropriate paperwork (as outlined above)
  • Must buy a seat
  • Must be in a dog/pet kennel
  • Must provide information (name, phone number, email) for pick up person
  • Must sign Shipper Indemnity and Hold Harmless Agreement and Waiver
  • Must be approved by all guests on board flight (see steps above)

 

Safety

Our number one core value – above all else we want to make sure our guests arrive safely to paradise.

 

Although our operation is all-weather capable, we may have to divert or delay a flight due to adverse weather conditions. We only do that to offer the safest flights for our guests but we will make sure to be by their side every step of the way so you can get where you are going.

 

Every employee, even the most senior, participates in weekly training exercises.
Our highly skilled maintenance team inspects and cleans our aircraft after each flight.

 

We have two pilots aboard every leg, even though we are only required to have one.

 

COVID-19 Considerations

Your health and safety are paramount to us. We follow strict protocols we  so you can travel with confidence.

 

For travel originating in New Providence (Nassau), vaccinated travelers are required to provide proof of vaccination and a negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen test. Unvaccinated travelers need to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test. All tests must be taken within 5 days of travel.

 

For travel originating outside of New Providence or Grand Bahama, all passengers, regardless of vaccination status will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test.

Who owns COCO Bahama Seaplanes?

COCO is a 100% Bahamian owned Airline.

What is a private charter?

A private charter is a non-scheduled flight or on-demand flight. They cannot be booked online. To inquire about the cost of a private charter fill out this form and we will contact you with a quote.

What routes will COCO initially fly?

COCO will fly inter island between Nassau and The Family Islands private charter only. It will add Fort Lauderdale to and from The Bahamas and inter island later in the year.

What type of aircraft will you operate?

THE CESSNA CARAVAN AMPHIBIAN

Cessna, the company that invented light aircraft, launched the nine-seat Caravan Amphibian in 1986. Among the safest and most reliable aircraft ever built, by 2017 these classic seaplanes that encapsulate romance and adventure of a bygone age had logged 20 million flight hours across 100 countries. Equipped with wheels and floats, this versatile seaplane allows Coco Bahamas to land on any runway or body of water in The Bahamas for nationwide island hopping while also offering return flights to and from the United States.

Is flying on a COCO Bahama Seaplane safe?

Absolutely! Safety is our top priority. We operate with two pilots, perform regular maintenance checks and adhere to international guidelines and best practices.

How many seats are on your aircraft?

Our Caravan seaplanes seat 8 passenger.

What is the bird on the side of the plane?

The Bahama Woodstar is a hummingbird found on the islands of the Bahamas and other Greater Antillean islands. This bird is common across Nassau and The Family islands. It is one of the few hummingbirds that has a very noticeable forked tail. A group of hummingbirds has many collective nouns, including a “bouquet”, “glittering”, “hover”, “shimmer”, and “tune” of hummingbirds.

Where does COCO see expansion?

COCO is a domestic Bahamian airline and will only fly within The Bahamas and to and from the US.

Where is start-up funding coming from? Is the Bahamian government helping back COCO? If so, how much money has the government committed?

100% privacy fund with zero concessions or financial support from the Bahamian Government.

BEFORE TRAVELING

What travel documents do I need to travel?

A valid government issued ID or passport.

Am I allowed to bring liquids on the flight?

Yes. We do not have restrictions for liquids. However, we do have a weight restriction. If you are worried about the size and/or weight of your liquid containers, please contact our cargo department Monday–Friday 10 am–4 pm EST at 1-800-767-0897 or email: cargo@flycocobahama.com.

Can I bring alcohol on board?

Alcoholic beverages may be carried when they contain 24% to 70% alcohol by volume (48 to 140 proof). Each container cannot exceed 5 liters. And, each passenger cannot bring more than 5 liters onboard. Items under 24% or 48 proof (most beer and wine) are unlimited.

Can I bring a cooler with food on my trip?

Yes.

What's the policy for bringing firearms and/or knives?

Firearms and/or knives are restricted on COCO Bahama Seaplanes.

What about dogs?

COCO is extremely pet-friendly! We fly with our own fur babies all the time.

The airline’s pet allowance is flexible on private charter flights, which may include fewer passengers, thus allow for more weight.
If you are flying in from the U.S., you will require pet permits. These are obtained prior to the flight and presented at check in. Information can be found here. But, essentially, you’ll need to send a vet-approved Health Certificate—verifying vaccines and valid rabies shots—to the Bahamian authorities, by fax or courier, and they’ll return a permit to you, by fax, within a week, which you’ll bring with you to the airport.

Note: Should the aircraft need to be detailed due to your pet, a $200 cleaning fee will be applied.

Can I travel while pregnant?

Absolutely. We only recommend that you consult your doctor prior to any flight.

Can my child sit on my lap during the flight?

The child must be under 24 months old (2 years old) at the time of flight.

If the child is over 24 months requires their own seat.

If guest is travelling with a lap child, the following restrictions apply:

  • Lap Child must be held on lap for the duration of the flight.
  • One lap child is permitted for each ticketed adult.
  • All persons on board require a life vest in the event of an emergency.
  • Crew must ensure additional vests are provided for flight.

Are there age restrictions?

Travellers of all ages are welcome to fly with us. If you have a child under three, they can sit on a parent’s lap and do not require a separate seat.

What is the check-in process?

Passengers are required to arrive 30-minutes prior departure.

What notice do you require for bookings?

There is no cut off time for the bookings and we happily accept last minute reservations subject to availability.

LOGISTICS

Where do seaplanes depart from?

COCO departs from the Jet Nassau tarmac in the Bahamian capital, as well as, the Seaplane dock Marina of the private island resort, Kamalame Cay.

How far in advance should I arrive for my flight?

Guests should arrive 45 minutes prior to their flight. Check in begins at 30 minutes before the scheduled departure time and boarding time is 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Anyone not checked in prior to the boarding time will be denied boarding.

Do you have parking?

Yes, parking is available.

Do you provide transportation from the airport?

No, but COCO Bahama Seaplanes can assist with black car service for a nominal fee.

What happens if it rains?

Flights proceed only if weather conditions are suitable; a decision based on the day’s aviation forecast. If a flight must be cancelled due to inclement weather, we will contact you first thing in the morning to reschedule your charter. Please see our Terms & Conditions and Cancellation Policy for details about rescheduling and refunds.

How many passengers will be on the seaplane?

Our Cessna Caravan seaplanes accommodate up to eight passengers. Flights are operated on a shared—or private—basis.

BOOKING

How close to departure can I book a flight?

You can book a flight the same day you want to fly, pending availability. However, please note all charter requests are subject to aircraft availability, so it is advised that you book out as far in advance as possible.

Can you hold the plane for me?

We don’t accept tentative bookings. Full payment is required to confirm a charter.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you have a private charter outside of a 30 day window, you are entitled to a full refund. If the cancellation is within 30-15 days, you can retain the full amount paid as credit on file for any future charter flight. If it is inside a window of 14 days, the flight is non-refundable, but can be moved to another time and date pending availability for a fee.

Can I change my flight or time?

Private charters can be changed pending availability for a fee. Please note that the closer it is to the day of flight, the less likely it is that we are able to accommodate a change. If you have a charter flight and wish to change your time of travel, please speak with your charter specialist.

Can I buy bulk hours?

Yes. Discounts typically are in the x to x range for the bulk purchase of flying hours. Please contact the sales team.

How much does it cost to fly COCO?

What is the baggage allowance?

Please contact us in advance if the dimensions of your luggage exceed 14′′H x 41′′L x 27′′D so we can try to accommodate your requirements.

As COCO flights are all private charters, baggage size and weight allowances depends on the number of passengers flying but may not exceed a total of 1,500 to 1,800 pounds.
